One 750ml bottle of the 1983 Vintage of Vieux-Château-Certan. Vieux-Château-Certan is the Excellent Pomerol property that is Rated very close to Château Petrus, and always produces Quality Pomerol. This 1983 Vintage is rated a High 90 points by The Wine Spectator Spectator Magazine . Here is their Review , " 90 out of 100 ........... Additional Information : In the heart of the Pomerol, only a few rows of vines away from the famous church tower, is situated Vieux Château Certan, the Oldest Cru of the appellation. Founded in the XVIth Century and known under its present name since 1745, the Chateau was acquired in 1924 by Georges Thienpont. Since this time it has continued to Affirm itself as one of the Rarest and Most Prestigious Crus in the World. A symbol of Perfection; the Exquisite Finesse of its Wines, the Elegance of the Chartreuse Chateau surrounded by age-old trees, the order and Quality of the Vineyard. Vieux Château Certan inspires Fascination on the part of great international Connoisseurs and Artists. Vieux Château Certan was the most prized Château in Pomerol between 1770 and 1875 when it was owned by the Demay family. In 1875 the chateau lost its Top spot to Chateau Pétrus, which incidentally it joins as a neighbour. The Two Châteaux have the highest proportion of `buttonhole' clay on the high terrace of Pomerol. Which Contributes to the Excellence and Uniqueness of Both of these Rare Wines. The wine is composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, set amongst 13.5 hectares of Vineyards.
